Decide...Commit...Succeed

     Since having great success with the Waist Away program in meeting my weight loss goals, I have undertaken the task of improving my overall fitness.  As part of this endeavor, I have been doing the "Insanity" max interval cardio DVDs.  These things are in fact insane, but at the beginning of each DVD the three words DECIDE, COMMIT, SUCCEED scroll across the screen.  The first few times I saw them I'm not sure I even paid attention to them, however, once I did notice, I began to think "what a terrific little mantra" and found myself repeating these words whenever I really didn't feel much like doing my workout that day.  Then I began thinking "what a great little mantra for every challenge we face".  Right now you are making healthy changes and whether you happened on this site by accident or intentionally, these three words may truly change your life.
     The first word is DECIDE.  It is true that the first step you need to take when faced with losing weight and making healthy changes is to DECIDE that you must do this and you must do this now.  Decisions take place in the mind and therefore involve you having the right mindset before you attempt to make changes.  The following reminder is printed on one of the posters that came with my DVDs, "You can discover what is possible with your body only after you first conquer your mind".  Nutrition and fitness expert Bill Phillips said "it's not actually willpower or discipline that give us the power to make healthy changes...it's INSPIRATION".  Part of DECIDING is making sure that you know exactly why you are making changes; what is your inspiration or reason.  When you have a strong enough reason, you won't let anything stand in your way.  Spend time as you prepare to start making healthy changes to figure out why your doing it and then set some specific goals for yourself to aim for.  Get your mind set and DECIDE to begin.
     The second word is COMMIT.  Committing to something means that you will not be deterred no matter what.  You are in it for the long haul.  You need to commit to what you are trying to do at the beginning and then every single minute of every single day along the way.  For example, the Waist Away program gives you a proven program to reach your weight loss goals, however, if you don't commit to follow the low calorie diet each and every meal, then you will cheat yourself and likely impair your weight loss.  In our hectic lives with all the distractions, it is easy to just give in, but if you are committed you find a way to persevere even when you didn't think you could.  COMMIT to making positive, healthy changes and you will be glad you did.
     The final word is SUCCEED.  In order to SUCCEED, you must do.  DECIDING and COMMITTING are not enough.  You must actively do the Waist Away program, or the "Insanity" DVDs to SUCCEED.  However, I believe this is actually the easiest step as long as you have taken the two previous steps.  If your reason is strong enough and you have conquered your mind in preparing, and if you have committed yourself to complete the program no matter what, then SUCCEEDING by doing should just fall into place.
     So, please remember these three words as you embark on your journey to getting healthy - DECIDE...COMMIT...SUCCEED.  Repeat them often and live them daily and I am certain you will reach whatever goals you set for yourself.
